Here’s what is coming to Netflix in August

It’s almost August, which means there will be plenty of new additions joining Netflix in the coming weeks.

Next month’s line-up includes all six seasons of Downton Abbey, a reboot of a beloved teen comedy, and new seasons of some of our favourite reality shows.

Take a look at the movies and TV shows coming to Netflix in August.

August 1

  • Ackley Bridge (Season 3) – Comedy-drama about the lives of people affected by a merger of two schools in a largely segregated British and Asian community.
  • Chaos (2005) – Jason Statham, Ryan Philippe, and Wesley Snipes feature in this action crime drama.
  • Darwin’s Game (Season 1) – Sci-fi anime series about a high schooler activating a mysterious mobile app.
  • Gosford Park (2001) – Comedy set back in the 1930s following rich people who gather together, and a murder occurs.
  • The Hitman’s Apprentice (2012) – Comedy Thriller starring Tim Roth and Jack O’Connell.
  • I Missed You: Director’s Cut (2021) – Independent romance movie.
  • Masha and the Bear (Season 4) – Children’s musical animated series.
  • Solomon Kane (2009) – Action fantasy movie directed by M.J. Bassett
  • Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) – Johnny Depp stars in this Tim Burton movie. Benjamin vows to seek revenge from the judge who framed him for a crime he did not commit. In order to do so, he reopens his barbershop and begins murdering his customers with a razor.
  • Time and Tide (2000) – Martial arts action thriller.
  • Wild Oats (2016) – Andy Tennant directed comedy about a retired teacher who is accidentally paid millions in insurance.
  • World Trade Center (2006) –When the World Trade Center collapses in 2001, the lives of two Port Authority police officers change forever when they get trapped in the wreckage and debris.
  • Young Guns II (1990) – An elderly man approaches attorney Charles Phalen and claims that he is the famous outlaw, Billy the Kid. He goes on to explain how a cattle baron put up a large bounty 1881 to kill him.

August 2

  • The Mule (2018) – Due to financial issues, horticulturist Earl Stone becomes a courier for a drug cartel. Slowly, he grows closer to his estranged family, but his illegal activities threaten much more than his life.

August 3

  • ’71 (2014) – A lethal riot takes place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, between Catholics and Protestants. A young British soldier, abandoned inadvertently by his military unit, has to survive the riot alone.
  • Ije: The Journey (2010) – Nigerian murder mystery about a girl accused of murder in Los Angeles.
  • Pray Away (2021) – Documentary about conversion therapy produced by Ryan Murphy.
  • Shiny_Flakes: The Teenage Drug Lord (2021) – Maximilian Schmidt aka Shiny Flakes reveals how he built an online drug empire from his childhood bedroom in the true story that also inspired the series How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast).
  • The Hole (2001) – Nick Hamm directs this British movie about four teenagers living at a private school while undercover.

August 4

  • Aftermath (2021) – Horror about a newly married couple who move into a house with a troubled history.
  • Car Masters; Rust to Riches (Season 3) – Reality series following the crew at Gotham Garage, who take the scrap and rustbuckets of old cars and transform them into showstoppers.
  • Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami (Limited Series) – A six-part saga on the South Florida traffickers indicted in one of the largest drug cases in U.S. history.
  • Control Z (Season 2) – Netflix’s teen soap from Mexico continues.
  • Cooking with Paris (Season 1) – Hotel heiress and socialite Paris Hilton stars in her own cooking reality show.
  • Inventing David Geffen (2012) – PBS American Masters entry on the famous and powerful media mogul.

August 6

  • Hit & Run (Season 1) – Action thriller about a man who’s life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a mysterious hit and run accident.
  • Navarasa (Season 1) – Indian anthology series.
  • The Mustang (2019) – Roman, a prisoner notorious for his violent behaviour, gets a chance to rebuild his life when he is selected for a rehabilitation therapy that requires him to train a wild mustang.
  • The Swarm (2020) – French horror about a woman who breeds grasshoppers but they soon develop a taste for blood.
  • Vivo (2021) – Animated musical feature film from Sony Animation led by Lin Manuel Miranda.

August 7

  • Paddington (2014) –  Paddington bear travels to London in search of a new home.
  • Takizawa Kabuki ZERO 2020 The Movie (2021) – Japanese concert.

August 8

  • Vendetta (2013) – EastEnders star Danny Dyer fronts this British action thriller about a special ops officer hunting down a gang.

August 10

  • Gabby’s Dollhouse (Season 2) – Educational children’s show.
  • Untold: Malice in the Palace (2021) – Sports documentary about the biggest brawl in NBA history.

August 11

  • Bake Squad (Season 1) – Reality cooking competition series.
  • Asphalt Goddess / La diosa del asfalto (2020) – Spanish musical.
  • The Kissing Booth 3 (2021) – The final installment of Netflix’s popular teen-drama trilogy. Elle Evans has to decide whether she wants to go to college with her boyfriend or her best friend.

August 12

  • AlRawabi School for Girls (Season 1) – High school series.
  • Don’t Let Go (2019) – Horror starring David Oyelowo and Storm Reid.
  • Lokillo: Nothing’s The Same (2020) – Stand-up Special.
  • Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild (2021) – Anime movie based on the popular Capcom video game.

August 13

  • Beckett (2021) – Following a tragic car accident in Greece, Beckett, an American tourist, finds himself at the center of a dangerous political conspiracy – and on the run for his life.
  • Brand New Cherry Flavor (Season 1) – Mystery horror about a filmmaker heading to Hollywood but gets sucked into a world of strange.
  • Fast & Furious Spy Racers (Season 5) – Adventures abound as a group of teenagers infiltrates an elite racing league controlled by a nefarious organization that is bent on world domination.
  • Gone for Good (Limited Series) – French crime drama based on the Harlen Coben book.
  • Valeria (Season 2) – Spanish comedy series.

August 15

  • Downton Abbey (Seasons 1-6) – Popular British period drama series.
  • Grace: The Possession (2014) – Horror starring Alexia Fast.
  • I Give It a Year (2013) – Nat and Josh are a happy couple with a lot of differences. This makes the family and friends predict that their marriage won’t last. Josh’s ex-girlfriend and Nat’s handsome client add to the confusion

August 16

  • American Girl: Lea to the Rescue (2016) – Nadia Tass directs this family adventure movie about a young girl heading deep into the Brazillian rainforest.
  • Bride of Chucky (1998) – Horror comedy directed by Ronny Yu.
  • Mr. Peabody and Sherman (2014) – A talking dog, Mr Peabody, embarks on a life dedicated to science, technology and athletics after being rejected by a potential owner. He adopts a son, Sherman.
  • The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part (2019) – Five years after saving the world, Emmet sets out to rescue his friends from the mysterious planet Duplon and gets help from newcomer Rick Dangervest.

August 17 

  • Keeping Up with the Kardashians (Season 5) – Season five of the reality series following the most famous family in the world.
  • The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Season 5) – Season five of the hit reality series following the lives of affluent women residing in Beverly Hills.
  • Toot-Toot Cory Carson (Season 5) N – Kids animated series.
  • Untold: Deal with the Devil (2021) N – Sports documentary about former American world champion boxer Christy Martin.

August 18

  • Black Island (2021) – Polish thriller.
  • Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes (2021) – British documentary on serial killer Dennis Nilsen, who narrates via audiotapes his horrific crimes throughout the years.
  • Out of my League / Sul più bello (2020) – Italian rom-com.
  • The Defeated (Season 1) – Set in 1946 Berlin, this series sees an American cop living in the city which is being engulfed by crime.
  • Diaries of an Exchange Student / Diários de Intercâmbio (2020) – Brazillian rom-com.

August 20 

  • The Chair (Season 1) – The trials and tribulations of an English department chair at a major university. Starring Sandra Oh.
  • The Loud House Movie (2021) – Animated comedy movie sequel to the popular Nickelodeon series.
  • Sweet Girl (2021) – Action-thriller starring Jason Mamoa as a vengeful widower who has vowed to take his revenge upon those responsible for the death of his wife, while also trying to protect his daughter.

August 25

  • Post Mortem: No One Dies in Skarnes (Season 1) – Norwegian Supernatural drama

August 27 

  • He’s All That (2021) – Genderswap reboot of the beloved 90s teen-comedy. Starring Addison Rae and Kourtney Kardashian.
