I’m lucky to travel a lot with the work I do, but finding the perfect travel destination can be difficult when I have a long check list.
Not only do I look for good weather (ideally sunshine), good location and food to die for, I also need strong wifi and good transport facilities.
I travelled to Cannes, France back in May for the Cannes Film Festival – always an extremely expensive trip when you want to stay in the city centre, so this time I ventured outside the centre and stayed in Mimozas Resort in Mandelieu.
Here are the 5 Things I Loved about the resort:
1. The Swimming Pool
There’s nothing better than soaking up the sunshine poolside, and Mimozas has the perfect pool area to relax.
With a full bar by their impressive pool (with an extensive pool bar menu) it’s easy to sit back, relax and get your tan on.
I had to do lots of work during my trip to Cannes and there was no better feeling than sitting on a sun lounger with my laptop and working away in the sunshine.
If you have a family the pool faciliites will be exactly what you need, as well as a normal adult pool there’s also child friendly sections.
2. The Apartments
Mimozas Resort is made up of lots of apartments, which means it’s perfect for a couple or even a big group of friends.
I flew over on my own as it was a work trip, but I had a serious amount of space to work and enjoy the resort.
In my apartment I had two double size bedroooms, a kitchen, balcony and living room area.
WiFi is such an important facility to me (I always need to be online for work) and each apartment comes equipt with it’s own internet so you’re sorted.
3. The Lake
Mimozas is situated on a stunning lake in Mandeliue.
Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds flying high and fish swimming through the water made the stay even more relaxing.
Each apartment complex is in front of the lake and each morning you can enjoy a walk down the wooden bridge into the main hotel reception.
4. The Food
A good resort always needs good food, and Mimozas had exactly that.
In the morning you can enjoy a continental breakfast, with different breads and cheeses as well as gorgeous local coffee.
I had a really busy week during my stay and spent most of time in Cannes central but one night I enjoyed a lovely dinner in the main restaurant.
I went for a chiken dish with rice and tasted some local wine, sitting in the sunshine overlooking the lake made the experience all the more enjoyable.
5. The Location
Mandeliu isn’t extremely close to Cannes, but if you’re looking for an enjoyable sun holiday to relax away from the mayhem, then this is the perfect location for you.
The resort was only a 20 minute drive from Nice airport, which made it really easy to arrive and leave in the end.
If you want to go into Cannes central there is a bus stop about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel that will get you into the centre in 30 minutes.
I was in and out everyday and got the bus in the mornings and a taxi home at night, you’re look at €30-€40 for a taxi home from the city centre.
But it is cheaper to use Uber so make sure to download the app, you can also hire electrical bikes to cycle along the coast in Cannes.
