Ivan Yates has revealed that he suffers with chronic back pain, and the only way to ease his pain is to lie down on the floor.
The Newstalk presenter admitted that whether he’s at work, home or the cinema – if his back is particularly bad, he just has to lie down on the ground.
“If I’m in the Olympia, after around 30 minutes, I always go to the top back row and stand. If I’m in the cinema in Stillorglan, I lie on the floor,” he told Independent.ie.

Since the terrifying incident, Ivan still has weakness in his left leg and often loses sensation, which has caused him to no longer be able to sit for long periods of time – but he doesn’t care what people think when he lies on the ground to ease his pain.
“People think ‘oh my God, is there a problem?’ Everyone gets used to it.
“I find it’s not my problem. I’m well over my dignity. You just would do anything to get over the pain,” he added.
