As the world lost another musical icon this year in Prince, RTE weather woman Joanna Donnelly paid tribute to the artist in the best way.
The legendary musician passed away suddenly yesterday after he was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park Studios in Minnesota.
Honouring the singer during her weather forecast, the presenter slipped in a reference to one of Prince’s most iconic songs.

“No rain, purple or otherwise,” she said at the end of her forecast.
The tribute was acknowledged by many on social media and Joanna was praised for her subtle tribute to the US star.
“No rain, purple or otherwise” – that’s both the weather after @rtenews at Nine and @RTE_PrimeTime #rtept that ended with a nod to #Prince.

‘No rain, purple or otherwise’… and the RTE weather report was the last place I expected a Prince tribute. Subtle. I like it ☔☔☔
