Tributes are flooding in on social media after the shock passing of actor Alan Rickman.
A respected star of stage and screen, 69-year-old Alan died after a battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends a statement said.
The Englishman was known for his iconic role as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise starring alongside Irish actors Evanna Lynch, Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson.
Taking to Twitter, a number of well-known Irish faces have paid their respects to the Die Hard actor, including his Harry Potter co-star Devon Murray.
