Niall Horan on One Direction's hiatus: 'Will people notice me?'

Niall Horan has revealed that he wonders if people will no longer recognise him when One Direction go on their planned hiatus.

The Mullingar native, who has had a whirlwind five years with his fellow 1D bandmates, wonders if people will notice him on the street now that he won’t be regularly in the spotlight with the band.

Speaking on the documentary Celebrity Bites, Niall said: “I wonder now in January if I walk down the street will people notice me? Is there a switch that flicks on and off? It probably won’t happen at all.”

The 22-year-old also admitted that he’s looking forward to going home and “just doing nothing” for a while.

“I am looking forward to being able to go home and just being able to enjoy the time off.

“I’m looking forward to that – I’m looking forward to just doing nothing,” he said.

In the documentary, Niall also talks about the X Factor and how he thinks he appeared like a “cocky little idiot” in his first audition, which he puts down to nerves.

“There’s something about Simon – everyone sees him as this, like, God or whatever. He is the X Factor.

“That’s half the reason I was so nervous at my auditions and ended up looking like a cocky little idiot. It was just nerves.”

Niall also admitted to the documentary producers that this was “probably the first time in ages I have actually sat down and spoke about things we’ve done and achieved”.

“It’s everything and more, especially what’s happened to us after we filled in that form,” he said.

Speaking about the infamous tweet he posted in January 2010 which read, “Applied for X Factor, hope it all works out”, Niall says he supposes it did ‘work out’.

“Then you are standing in the stadium or something like that and you think, ‘I suppose it did’,” he added.

Celebrity Bites will be shown on RTE2 at 9pm on Monday.
