UFC fighter Conor McGregor became the interim Featherweight Champion in Las Vegas last night.
The Dubliner was welcomed with a flood of celebrity congrats after his knock-out win against USA’s Chad Mendes.

Retired boxer Mike Tyson shared: “@TheNotoriousMMA a beast. Incredible! @UFC @Danawhite great fight night. That’s how you win”.
“Just woke up after staying up and watching @TheNotoriousMMA take down Chad mendes! Nobody gets up after a left hand from him.. Deadly!!” wrote Olly Murs on Twitter.
Geordie Shore’s Gaz Beadle tweeted: “Congratulations @TheNotoriousMMA !!! #UFC189 @ufc”.

Closer to home, Irish stars were quick to show their support for the Crumlin native.
“Come on Conor ye boy ye! @TheNotoriousMMA,” said Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody.
While Kodaline simply put it: “Some man @TheNotoriousMMA “.
Showing support for a fellow sportsman, the Irish rugby team were up early to watch the fight – with Tommy Bowe sharing a video of the boys gripped until the end.
“Boys watching the @TheNotoriousMMA fight this morning,” Tommy captioned the video.
Meanwhile, Love/Hate actor Laurence Kinlan wrote:Â “I can’t put into words how happy I am and proud to be Irish after seeing that win. The man @TheNotoriousMMA is a Warrior!! Unreal! #UFC189.”
It wasn’t only the boys who stayed up to watch the fight as Vogue Williams and Daniella Moyles tweeted their support for the sports star.
“What a legend @thenotoriousmma,” posted Vogue alongside a photo of the UFC champ.

Finally Sinead O’Connor took to her Facebook after the fight to congratulate the Dubliner on his epic win.
Singing Conor into the Octagon in the MGM Grand, the iconic musician sang Foggy Dew to a rapturous crowd.
“Jaysus! That was fun. Well done Conor. So delighted for you,” she wrote.
“Also many thanks to James Connolly and the wonderful Irish audience here in Las Vegas and all over the world : )”.
