RTE star Claire Byrne has revealed that Marian Finucane is one of her inspirations – and she may follow in her footsteps and not get married for another 30Â years.
The TV presenter admitted that she is no rush to wed her  partner Gerry Scollan and admires the “low key” way Marian went about her own nuptials in January.
She said: “I’m inspired by Marian Finucane who got married after 30 years with John. I said to Gerry we might do the same thing the way things are going.”

She added: “I think the way Marian did it is pretty cool, the low key style that she did it.”
Meanwhile, Claire has also reflected on how dramatically her life has changed in the last two years with a new partner and two young children.
She said: “Everything was so uncomplicated! It was just me in my little house and everything was grand and now it’s complete chaos. It’s totally different but in a good way.”

The Laois native admitted that while she feels perfectly at home fronting her own current affairs show, Claire Byrne Live, she was a nervous wreck before being interviewed on The Late Late Show.
“I was nervous all week about that but when I had that done I felt absolutely fine, that I could conquer the world. I was more confident doing my own show than The Late Late which is a funny one,” she told Woman’s Way.
Claire also opened up about her delight over talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres tweeting a link to her interview with Colin Farrell on gay marriage.
“It’s been phenomenal, we’ve been really taken aback with the response, it’s been a great start for us and now we’ve just got to continue it and make the next show as good as the last one.”
