The Hobbit star Aidan Turner has said he was “ready” for the series to end – after five years working on it.
The Dubliner – who plays one Kili, a dwarf that help Bilbo Baggins on his quest – was the only star to turn out for the Irish premiere of the new film.
The 31-year-old was at the Savoy cinema to see The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies – the last look into the world of JRR Tolkien.

But speaking on the red carpet, Aidan said: “It was emotional finishing the movies but not in a melancholy way. It was more of a celebration.
“We were all ready for it to end. We’ve been working on it for five years. It’s nice to end on a high note and to be in Ireland for the premiere.”

Stars including Norah Casey and Tallafornia’s Kelly Donegan turned out for the premiere last night.
But Aidan was looking forward to his new role in Jim Sheridan’s upcoming movie, The Secret Scripture.

It also stars Jack Reynor, Rooney Mara and Vanessa Redgrave, and Aidan said: “It’s got a good few heads in it so it should be exciting.”
