Maura Higgins has opened up about how she faced a hard time in school.
The Longford-born model revealed that her parents always instilled in her the importance of defending herself.
“It’s so important I stand by that. My parents always told me to stand up for myself, no matter,” she told The Irish Sun newspaper.
“Growing up in school I had a hard time and I still never backed down.”
“I think it’s the most important thing for women to stand up and speak your mind.
“Don’t be afraid. Everybody is their own person.”
“Don’t try and please people.”
Maura explained that her mum Sharon shaped her attitudes today.
She said: “I am the way I am today because of my mammy.”
