RTE star Keelin Shanley has told how she is now in remission after her cancer scare – but fears for her daughter.
The Morning Edition presenter was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and underwent a mastectomy.
And the 45-year-old revealed she was given the all-clear from her doctors last year.
She said: “I’m in remission and hopefully clear, but you never say never.
“I had a mastectomy, chemo, radio and all the rest of it, and hopefully it’s all gone.
“Obviously I have checks often. There are good stats with breast cancer so it’s hopeful that it’s gone for good.”
But Keelin admitted that genetic issues mean her seven-year-old daughter Lucy will also have to be checked.
She said: “We will have to get her checked. I’ve had the genetic testing – my mother died quite young of ovarian cancer and there are links.”
