Dannii Minogue has revealed she “identifies as queer”.
The Australian singer opened up about her sexuality in the first episode of the new gay dating show, I Kissed a Girl, of which she is the host.
The 52-year-old admitted, “I identify as queer in a weird way,” after one contestant in the show asked if she was attracted to women.
Dannii is a the host of the new dating show for bisexual and lesbian women – a spin-off of the show I Kissed a Boy, which she also hosted.
In the first episode, the female contestants made it clear that they fancy Dannii.
After one contestant asked if she was attracted to women, she replied: “I identify as queer in a weird way.”
“You girls are hot. You know it. I love it. I’m here for it. Is that an answer?”
Getting emotional, Dannii went onto say: “You girls are so brave and amazing and have brought so much to it. I could never do what you have done.
“I will always be in awe of what has happened and what we’ve created. I feel so proud. You’re stepping forward, and you’re the first crew of girls representing in this space, and it is big.”
Speaking at the show’s launch, Dannii admitted it was “surreal” that it has taken so long for there to be dating series for bisexual and lesbian women in the UK.
“This is so important. There hasn’t been a show for the girls in the reality gay dating world,” she said.
“It’s like we need this to happen. I’m hoping that there are parties up and down the country,” she continued
“I want this to go well, obviously. Everybody’s put everything on the line.”
“I hope there are more series of this show, and more girls get the opportunity to have this experience,” Kylie Minogue’s sister added.
The show sees 10 women looking for love as they are matched up by dating experts.
Then they kiss before they’ve spoken to decide if they have chemistry or not.
Dannii teased: “The girls are searching for love with inhibitions left at home, and we watch it all unfold in the sun-soaked Italian landscape.”
“In my role as cupid, I always hope that an attraction sparks with such intensity that it leads to a lasting relationship, but my lips are sealed whether that happens in this series.”
“One thing I can tell you is that it was the ultimate lesbian summer holiday that the girls loved, I got the feeling that they didn’t want it to end,” she added.
Dannii has been in a relationship with musician Adrian Newman for the past decade.
She also dated model Kris Smith, who is the father of her son Ethan, 13.
