The 2006 hit ‘Hey There Delilah’ is set to be adapted into a television series.

The Plain White T’s song tells the story of a struggling song-writer who promises his long-distant girlfriend that he’ll have a successful musical career soon, and that they’ll live a great life together in the future.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, lead singer of the band Tom Higgenson said, “Hey There Delilah has captivated people for over 10 years now… it’s crazy! And people young and old, to this day, still come up to me and ask about the story behind the song.”

“I’m excited to reimagine the story I’ve told a million times, and make something fun and fresh that people can fall in love with all over again.”

The 39-year-old pitched the idea alongside theatre author, Jeremy Desmon, and producer, Michael Barra.

Speaking about Michael, the singer said, “He was inspired by my storytelling ability and he had this crazy idea to turn ‘Delilah’ into a show of some sort. I jumped at the idea as soon as I heard it and we all got on board.”

There is no further information on the production just yet, but the band are set to release a new album, Parallel Universe, on August 24th.
