New face of UTV Ireland Alison Comyn says TV role is a 'dream come true'

The new face of UTV Ireland has said she’s relieved to finally tell people she’s landed her ‘dream job’.

Alison Comyn will front the new Irish station’s nightly news and current affairs programme Ireland Live.

Alison, 44, will host the show at 10pm every night, starting from January 1st.

“It’s a dream come true to get back to what I love, which is live news,” she revealed.

“It is also a relief to finally be able to tell people now,” she added.

The Louth native, who has previously worked for RTE, BBC, Sky News and Channel 4, said she is a tough when it comes to asking questions on the show.

“I’ve been described as warm, I like to think I can put people at ease, but I can also go in for the kill so I am no pussy cat either,” she told the Sunday Independent.

Although Alison will inevitably be compared to presenters Grainne Seoige and Sharon Ni Bheolain.

“I’m not looking to emulate anyone. I just want to concentrate on what I am doing and bring my own personal style to the programme,” she said.
