Louis Walsh: 'I've never seen Simon Cowell cry… maybe he can't with all the work he's had done'

Louis Walsh has claimed he’s never seen Simon Cowell cry – claiming it could be down to all the “work he has done to his face”.

The X Factor judge shocked fans of the show when he started balling his eyes out at having to send home the newly created girl group.

He said: “I loved the girls but I couldn’t put them through. I think they should stay together.

“I don’t cry easily. I was watching them crying and I had to say no. I crushed them — it was their big dream. I don’t cry in my own life but when I cried on the show that was real.

“The only person I have never seen cry is Simon. Maybe with all of that work he has done to his face, it’s not working. But he is looking younger isn’t he?”

And Louis – speaking ahead of the live shows beginning this evening – said that it has become a lot harder this year on the series because of Simon.

“It is hard work, as Simon is back. He wants the show to be better. He is changing everything. It is great he is involved and cares because we are all having to work harder,” he told the Sun.

“We had a lot of fun last year but we are really having to work hard and invest time in our acts.”
