Danny O'Donoghue nearly joined The Voice Australia after quitting UK version

The Script star Danny O’Donoghue has revealed he nearly became a judge on the Australian Voice.

The Dubliner quit his job on the UK version of the show to record a new album with the band and to tour the world.

But Danny was nearly convinced to replace Ricky Martin in Oz – and work with Will.i.am and Kylie Minogue on the Down Under version.

“Will contacted me and tried to persuade me to sign up for the Australian version and replace Ricky Martin,” he told the Daily Star Sunday.

“It would have been cool to work with Kylie but in the end I decided I couldn’t cope with Will for another year.”

Previously Danny admitted he worries The Voice UK will be axed within the next two years.

The Script singer doesn’t believe the BBC will allow it to continue after failing to create a proper superstar.

“I think it is a little worrying the show hasn’t found a star yet. Every year it doesn’t have a hit is another year it is in jeopardy,” he said.
