Fun-loving Daithi O’Se looks to give the Rose of Tralee a moment to remember – when he does the ice bucket challenge on stage.
The annual competition starts tonight, and already the RTE host is hoping to make it the most memorable in years.
He has promised to take on the challenge alongside the Roses to raise awareness for  Motor Neurone Disease after being nominated by his mother-in-law.
But Daithi admitted: “At the end of the day I don’t want to set my self on fire and die.”

“I’ve been nominated to do this ice bucket challenge from America. Basically someone nominates you to have a bucket of ice thrown over you,” he said.
“It’s for Motor Neuron disease, and if you don’t do it you have to pay €100 and if you do do it you have to pay €20.
“You get to nominate three other people as well. You have to do it on camera, that’s the thing. So that might happen.

Last year, the Rose of Tralee has one of its top moments ever when New Orleans Rose Molly Molloy  got engaged live on stage.
And asked how they can top the proposal, Daithi told the Star: “We might have to bring out Daisy the cow again.”
