Baz Ashwamy urges other OAPs to go skydiving or swimming with sharks

TV star Baz Ashwamy has urged other OAPs to follow in his mum’s footsteps by going skydiving.

The Dubliner’s new Sky 1 show begins tonight and will push his 71 year old Mum Nancy to the limit.

And Baz told Goss.ie he now wants other older people to explore the world and see that their life really isn’t over.

Age is just a number: It’s a big bad world and you can do anything insists Baz

“I mean it’s that feeling of when you grow older you become invisible. It’s a shitty feeling and I’m an egomaniac, and I wouldn’t want my mum to be treated like that, its not right.”

“I think its just a part of  our culture that people are treated a certain way,” he said.

“And I think Nancy is the poster girl for breaking that mold. Life’s not over, its a big world and you can do anything.”

No fear: The show begins tonight and will feature Nancy and Baz Skydiving

The Irish presenter added that people should push their parents to be more adventurous, but he doesn’t think everyone should go skydiving.

“I’m not saying go out and go skydiving with your parents but maybe they’ve never been to Thailand and maybe they’d love to see it. Maybe just book a flight.”

“It’s that kind of thing, not treating your parents like they’re just your parents, just treating them like your mate, just doing stuff with them. They’re not going to be there forever.”
