Laura Whitmore has said she believes the woman in the Belfast rape trial – after all accused were found Not Guilty.

#IBelieveHer has been trending online since Paddy Jackson, Stuart Olding, Rory Harrison and Blane McIlroy were all acquitted this week.

Taking to Instagram Laura said she was “shocked” and “shamed” by the result.

“I don’t even know what to write here as I’m in shock that a woman would be shamed when the evidence clearly shows she was and is the victim and can only imagine how difficult it was for her to come forward,” she wrote.

“Imagine she was your friend, your daughter, your sister. A woman does not put her self through all that for no reason. Stop slut shaming and start protecting our girls #ibelieveher.”
