Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new titles that they will receive after they get married this afternoon have been announced.
Their was speculation the Meghan would be appointed the controversial Duchess of Connaught title but this will not come to pass.
The Royal Family released a statement which Kensington Palace shared on Twitter announcing the appointments.
It announced that, “The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel.”
“Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.”
Prince Augustus Frederick was the last person to hold the Duke of Sussex title and it has been out of action since 1843.
