He’s just hit number one in Ireland – and Hozier’s manager has insisted that he will be as big as U2.
And MCD boss Caroline Downey – who championed him from the start – said he is on track for a top ten single in America soon.
She said: “Very few artists from Ireland get on Saturday Night Live, so it’s exciting.

“We’ve just found out we’re in the number one slot on iTunes in the UK and the album drops in America today.
“He’s doing VH1 too this week, which he’s looking forward to. I think he can be as big as U2.
“Until now he’s only had one single out in America but the album will tell. But judging by pre-sales it’s looking like he’ll have a top ten spot in the near future and that’s good.”

Delighted Caroline was speaking at the Cheerios Childline Breakfast – and said she hopes to raise €300,000 for the charity this year.
She added: “This is the eighth year we’ve done this and we’re hoping to raise €300,000.
“It’s one our biggest fundraising events and this time last year Hozier actually performed at the event and nobody knew who he was.”
