Danny O'Donoghue delighted after mum beats near-death brain aneurysm

Danny O’Donoghue has told of his delight – after being told his mum is on the road to recovery after nearly dying from a brain aneurysm.

The Script star retreated from the showbiz world for eight months after discovering 67-year-old Ailish’s “catastrophic” medical situation.

Now Danny – who moved back to Dublin to mind her – said she is finally “on the road to recovery” after coming close to death.

Asked about how his mother is doing now, Danny told Hot Press: “She’s good, she’s doing fantastic, she’s right on the road to recovery.

“Obviously she has ongoing issues and has to get checked up – but from where we were a year ago, we’re laughing.”

Previously the former Voice UK judge revealed he feared she wouldn’t survive the night.

He said: “I flew straight home and we were told she might not make it through the night. We had weeks and weeks of care and being there for her.”

The Script ended up finishing new album No Sound Without Silence in Temple Bar’s Sun Studio – due to Danny moving back home to his his family house in Ballinteer.

He added: “We did three or four different things there and it was good because what’s a Script album without being here and soaking it up and being able to put Dublin in the songs?

“It was a weird time, y’know, living back in Baltinteer in me ma’s house, in my old room.

“I’d be lying in bed and seeing under the f**king windowsills the initials I scraped in there when I was, like, nine-years-old.”
