RTE seriously splashed the cash for Ray D’Arcy’s Saturday night show set.
The presenter took over from Brendan O’Connor this year, and RTE spent a mega €136,000 on his set, meaning they spent €24,000 more on his set than they spent on Ryan Tubridy’s new Late Late Show set.
Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show the station spent the cash on building the actual set, furniture, LED lights and props.

According to the Herald, RTE released a statement saying the costs “are very much in line with industry standards.”
So far Ray’s show has been a hit with viewers, bringing in an average of 392,000 per episode.
