WATCH: Colin Farrell opens up on new movie The Lobster

Colin Farrell has opened up about his role in upcoming movie The Lobster.

The Dublin native stars in the unconventional movie as a lonely middle aged man given 45 days to find true love and if he doesn’t – he’ll be turned into an animal.

“This film feels like a new cinematic language which feels like such a grandiose thing to say but it’s so unusual, when I read the script, I couldn’t believe it,” he said.

The Horrible Bosses star believes the film calls into question societal conventions and calls into question what it means to be lonely.

“I get from it that it does question societal convention and it does question the nature and fabric of loneliness and the things we do to escape our loneliness,” he said.

“It is really lonely to be a human being, it can be at times. You’re constantly looking for your tribe and where you fit in.”

The Lobster has already received a standing ovation when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week.
