Tess Daly is reportedly “upset” after her husband Vernon Kay was wrongly linked to the scandalous Presidents Club charity gala.

Earlier this week, the controversial male-only event, which was held at the Dorchester Hotel, hit headlines after an undercover reporter revealed how hostesses were “groped” at “the most un-PC event of the year”.

An investigation by the Financial Times reported that women were paid £150 to dress in scantily clad black outfits while serving 360 men.

The newspaper alleged that women at the event were groped and propositioned by guests, and one even handed one of the hostess’ a glass of champagne before saying, “Down that, rip your knickers off and dance on the table”.

According to the Daily Star, Tess Daly was left feeling upset as her husband Vernon was mistakenly named as one of the stars at the scandalous event, when in fact Vernon was at home with the flu.

A source said, “Vernon has been to the Presidents Club dinner in the past but it was always a light-hearted event with top stand-up comedians.”

“He has been a patron of Great Ormond Street Hospital for years and regularly donates, so he gets an automatic invite. He did not RSVP for this year and did not go.”

Tess and Vernon’s marriage has had it’s fair share of ups and downs, as the presenter was famously exposed six years ago for ‘sexting’ former Page Three model Rhian Sugden behind Tess’ back.

Since the explosive story broke, the Presidents Club have announced that they will no longer be hosting fundraising events.

A statement read, “The trustees have decided that the Presidents Club will not host any further fundraising events. Remaining funds will be distributed in an efficient manner to children’s charities and it will then be closed.”

Meanwhile, Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity have said that they would hand back donations. A spokesman said: “We would never knowingly accept donations raised in this way.”
