Royal family member reveals why King Charles feels ‘frustrated’ amid his battle with cancer

King Charles is feeling “frustrated” amid his battle with cancer, according to his nephew Peter Philips.

Buckingham Palace announced that the King had been diagnosed with an unnamed form of cancer back in February, and had started treatment.

During a new interview with Sky News Australia, the son of Princess Anne shared: “He’s in good spirits. I think, ultimately, he’s hugely frustrated.”

“He’s frustrated that he can’t get on and do everything that he wants to be able to do. But he’s very pragmatic.

“He understands that there’s a period of time that he really needs to focus on himself.”

The King’s nephew, 46, continued: “But, at the same time, he is always pushing his staff and everybody and his doctors and nurses, to be able to say, ‘Actually, can I do this, can I do that?'”

“I think the overriding message would be that he’s obviously very keen to get back to a former normality and he’s probably frustrated that recovery is taking a little longer than probably he would want it to.”

This rare update on the King’s health is the most detailed comments made since the announcement of his diagnosis earlier this year.

A brief update came from his wife Queen Camilla, who confirmed during a visit in Belfast that her husband was “doing very well” and “was very disappointed he couldn’t come” with her on her trip.

In their statement to the public, the Palace said that while the King “has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” he “will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

Just weeks after King Charles’ cancer diagnosis was announced, Kate Middleton confirmed that she is also receiving treatment for cancer on Friday.

The Princess of Wales shared the news in a video posted on social media, and confirmed she was diagnosed after undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

The 42-year-old is married to the King’s eldest son Prince William, and the couple share three young children together – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, Prince Louis, 5.
