Love Island’s Montana Brown reveals she received ‘horrible racist abuse’ after the show

Montana Brown has opened up about the “horrible racist abuse” she received after Love Island.

The 26-year-old appeared on the popular dating show back in 2017, and admitted she “struggled to eat from the stress and pressure” of her newfound fame.

Speaking to The Sun, the reality star said: “The online hate doesn’t make you feel nice. I would get the stereotypical N-word and they’d say that I am disgusting and didn’t deserve to be on the show.”

Montana continued: “I was on Instagram 24/7, to make sure people were speaking to me and sending me messages saying I looked good.”

“I was desperate for work to continue and for me to keep busy. But people are really mean. I had poor self-esteem when I was getting really badly skinny-shamed.”

“I was definitely underweight as a result of my mental health. You’re only human and I was constantly trying to please my followers.”

It comes after Montana shared a before-and-after photo of herself on Instagram, revealing she “completely lost her appetite” as a result of her anxiety.

She captioned the post: “Trigger warning: transformation Tuesday time… I was looking back at old pictures of myself and I cannot believe my weight.”

“My anxiety was so bad and I did not know how to handle it, it was always in my stomach so I completely lost my appetite when I was struggling mentally. It makes me so sad to look back at pictures as I didn’t quite realise how bad it was.”

“I knew I wasn’t eating and I knew I wasn’t coping but I would put a baggy jumper on so I didn’t have to see it. I didn’t feel attractive or good about my body but my mind was in a bad spot.”

“I now reflect on these times and feel gratitude that I’ve moved forward mentally and physically” the TV personality continued.

“I am feeling blessed for going through it because it has made me more self aware and it made me spend time on the self work which we all could do more of. I’m happy and feeling blessed with where I am at with my relationship with myself and I wanted to share that with you all 🖤”

“If you’re feeling a similar way, that you don’t like the way your body looks in the mirror for whatever reason, then show yourself some love and prioritise the relationship with yourself as it’s the most important 💫”
