Love Island’s Demi Jones undergoes surgery to remove ‘potentially cancerous’ lump from her neck

Demi Jones has undergone surgery to remove a “potentially cancerous” lump from her neck.

Earlier this month, the Love Island star broke down in tears after the results for the lump came back, with doctors telling her it could be cancerous.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, the 22-year-old shared a photo from her hospital bed after getting the lump removed.

She wrote: “I did it. Very sleepy and painful, catch up soon.”

Sharing a later update, Demi wrote: “Face and neck are swollen but surgery went really well, the lump on my Thyroid was as big as a golf ball.”

“The NHS staff at QA Portsmouth have been unbelievable. And thank you for all your messages they have made me tearful.”

“In the meantime I’m going to have a little break from posting on social media, I hope this raises awareness to check your lumps. Love Demi x.”

Demi previously urged fans to get any irregularities checked, admitting she was “shocked” after getting her results.

She wrote: “Please don’t put off getting lumps checked, if appointments keep getting cancelled then you need to chase it up.”

“I was supposed to have this appointment 6 months ago.. At my scan they said ‘everything looks fine’ and went to send me on my way.”

“I challenged it and asked if they could do more, in which they said ‘oh well we can test the fluid if you want us to?’

“Thank god I asked as it was the fluid that came back potentially cancerous. Always push!”
