Love Island star Olivia Hawkins urges people to ‘be kind’ after being trolled over her appearance

Love Island star Olivia Hawkins has urged people to “be kind”, after being trolled over her appearance.

The 28-year-old, who shot to fame after appearing on the winter version of the dating show earlier this year, issued a statement via her Instagram Stories on Thursday after reading unkind comments about herself on TikTok.

The actress and ring girl wrote: “Never do this but wish people would just be kind! Seeing all the comments coming for my looks on my latest TikTok is where I draw the line.”

“You can say what you want about my personality and situations you’ve viewed on television but just think before you write something negative and how it can affect someone”

“Yes I opened myself up to this attention but I’m still human. Let’s all try and be kinder to one another. Hope you all have a lovely day, Liv,” she signed off.

It comes after Olivia revealed she received “death threats” after finding fame on Love Island.

Speaking about life after the show, she told OK! Magazine back in March: “It’s been up and down. When I first got out and saw my phone, I was quite overwhelmed because I didn’t know what light I’d been painted in, so that was quite hard to deal with.”

“But I’m definitely getting used to it now and just ignoring the negativity. I know myself, my friends and family know me. And that’s all that matters.”

“It’s hard. And obviously because of the social media change, the trolling hadn’t been filtered out, so I was the one having to see it all by myself when I left the villa, which was really difficult.”

The reality star continued: “The mental health aspects of fame and trolling [has been the hardest thing to deal with]. When you get the nasty comments – and I have had quite a lot of death threats – you just don’t expect it at all. So when you see it, you’re just completely shocked.”

When asked why she thinks she was portrayed as the “villain” of the season, Olivia replied: “From the clips that viewers have seen, I absolutely understand how they would portray me in that way.”

“But what people see is such a condensed version of your time in the villa. I think viewers really need to take what they’ve seen with a pinch of salt. I am human at the end of the day, I’m not a character on television.”
