Lisa Armstrong has reportedly been axed as Britain’s Got Talent makeup artist, as Ant McPartlin prepares for his hosting comeback.
The presenter is set to return to the show, alongside Declan Donnelly, next month; following a break from his on-screen duties to focus on his recovery from alcohol addiction.
The 43-year-old’s ex-wife is allegedly not going to be back for the new series though, as it has been reported that she has been axed from the show after working as a makeup artist backstage for over ten years.
According to The Mirror, a source claimed Lisa has been axed to ensure her ex’s return “goes smoothly with no unnecessary distractions.”
“Although everyone is very fond of Lisa, it was clearly untenable to carry on working together. Ant and Dec are two of the most senior people on the show, sometimes these tough decisions have to be made,” they alleged.
“Lisa was officially told last week but knew it was coming for months. She’s a freelancer so doesn’t have the same protection as a full-time employee,” another source claimed.
“Ant needs to make sure his return to telly goes smoothly. Producers are rallying around him. While Ant and Lisa are consummate professionals, executives want to create an environment in which he can thrive.”
“BGMT is a very close-knit family, so Lisa will be sadly missed,” another source claimed.
Ant and Lisa announced their split earlier this year, but were officially granted a divorce within seconds in October.
