Liam Payne teams up with Ed Sheeran for debut solo single

Liam Payne has teamed up with Ed Sheeran on his debut solo single.

The singer, of One Direction fame, co-wrote his debut solo track with the Shape of You singer – but details of the song are being kept under lock and key.

The pair last worked together on the song 18 from One Direction’s 2014 album Four.

“Liam and Ed have been friends for years, ever since Ed first wrote for One Direction on their debut album,” an insider told The Sun.

“The collaboration actually came about very quickly earlier this year. Liam was in Los Angeles and was told that Ed was beginning to write a song with Liam in mind.

“Liam rushed back to the UK and the pair of them wrote the track together then recorded it. With Ed’s expertise in creating a hit Liam knows they can’t go wrong. They have produced something special.

“Having Ed on board is a clever move too, as it means he will reach music fans beyond just 1D obsessives,” the source added.

In total, Ed penned five songs for One Direction throughout their four years in the charts, including their hit single Little Things.
