Georgia Harrison fears ex Stephen Bear won’t pay her ‘record-breaking’ damages from revenge porn trial

Georgia Harrison has revealed she fears her ex Stephen Bear won’t pay her “record-breaking” damages after their revenge porn trial.

The 28-year-old’s ex was sentenced to 21 months in prison in March, after he was found guilty of sharing a secret sex tape of him and Georgia.

Last month, Master Victoria McCloud ruled that Bear must pay £207,900 in damages to Georgia in one of the highest ever payouts in breach of privacy cases, per The Evening Standard.

Speaking on Rachel Johnson’s Difficult Women podcast, Georgia: “I have mixed emotions right now. I have a lot of people who are really excited about the reward.”

“It’s the biggest reward of image-based sex abuse in Britain however, there’s a few things going on behind closed doors.”

“It means potentially it’s going to be hard for me to see any of that money.”

“At the moment although I should be celebrating and other people are celebrating for me, I’m not so hopeful about getting my hands on any of it.”

“It is a moral victory,” Georgia continued. “It also sets a precedent for anyone considering committing this sort of a crime. Not only will you face criminal charges, you could well lose a large sum of money.”

“He didn’t even try to act remorseful or try to act like a good person. He did a very bad thing, on a very obvious way on a verified account and did nothing to cover his tracks or apologise for what he’d done. I could never quite figure out what he was thinking.”

Upon her ruling last month, Master Victoria McCloud said: “This is a case where the term ‘revenge porn’ is sometimes used, it’s a colourful term for the media.”

“This is a gross act of violation by a man towards a woman through the medium of the internet. A more appropriate term is ‘image based abuse’.”

“Pornography is generally actually something done consensually. It was consensual sex but it certainly wasn’t consensual filming, and it was deeply violating.”

Bear was sentenced to 21 months in prison on March 3, after he was found guilty of sharing a secret sex tape of him and Georgia in 2020.

He filmed the pair having sex on CCTV without Georgia’s consent and claims he made £40,000 after he uploaded it to OnlyFans.

Bear was convicted of voyeurism and two counts of disclosing private, sexual photographs and films.

Alongside his 21-month jail sentence, Bear was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years and was slapped with a five-year restraining order banning him from contacting Georgia.

Bear will also have notification requirements to keep police informed about his address and whereabouts for 10 years.

Victims of any kind of sexual offence in the UK are automatically granted anonymity, but Georgia bravely decided to waive her right to anonymity in order to speak out about her experience.

The former Love Island star opened up about the ordeal in an ITV documentary called Georgia vs. Bear: Revenge Porn, which aired earlier this year; it featured vlogs from Georgia as the case unfolded, as well as interviews from her mum Nicola and fellow Love Island contestants.
