Colin Firth’s wife has dropped the stalking charges against her ex-lover, in order to prevent details of their affair being revealed.
Livia Giuggioli reported Marco Brancaccia to the police, after he sent a compromising photo to her actor husband Colin after she ended their relationship.
The 48-year-old had a year-long fling with Marco, after she briefly split from Colin in 2016.
But when Livia ended their affair and reunited with Colin, prosecutors say Marco subjected them to a “terrifying ordeal”.
According to The Sun, the court case was set to come to a head in Rome yesterday, but it was halted by a last-minute deal.
In a joint statement, their lawyers said, “In the best interests of their families, the parties have agreed a private settlement.”
“The parties have asked the court for a postponement of the preliminary hearing in order to formalise the agreement.”
“This agreement precludes any further public statement by any of the parties about this matter.”
Meanwhile, a source said that both parties came to an agreement because Marco was keen to “clear his name”, and Colin and Livia didn’t want any private details made public in court.
