Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey recalls ’embarrassing’ wardrobe malfunction on set

Jonathan Bailey has recalled an “embarrassing” wardrobe malfunction that happened on the set of Bridgerton.

The actor plays Anthony Bridgerton in the popular period drama, and the show’s upcoming second season will follow his character’s quest to find a wife.

The 33-year-old was left red-faced while filming the new season, after “ripping his crotch” on camera.

Speaking at a Bridgerton press conference earlier this week, Jonathan said: “As men, we’re not going to complain about restrictive clothing when we’re sat with the women and their corsets.”

“But the fencing outfits were quite tight in various different places and we were wearing plimsolls on quite a dewy morning on the grass. Going in for my final lunge with Benedict [played by Luke Thompson], my crotch ripped. And it’s all on camera!”

“It’s just in those moments where you suddenly realise you’re being filmed by four different cameras. I sort of screamed, ‘this is just so embarrassing!’”

Jonathan’s character finds himself in a love triangle this season with sisters Kate and Edwina Sharma (played by Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran).

A synopsis on Netflix reads: “When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions — a true love match is not high on his priority list — and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union.”

“But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides.”

Meanwhile, “Across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons must welcome the newest heir to their estate while Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) continues to navigate the ton whilst keeping her deepest secret from the people closest to her.”

Season two of Bridgerton joins Netflix on Friday, March 25.
