Aaron Taylor-Johnson responds to criticism over age gap with wife Sam Taylor-Johnson

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has responded to criticism over the age gap with his wife Sam Taylor-Johnson.

The actor first met his now wife when she directed him in 2009’s Nowhere Boy, when he was 18-years-old, with Sam being 23 years his senior.

They have been married since 2012 and share two daughters together – Wylda, 13, Romy, 11.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone UK, the 33-year-old said: “What you gotta realize is that what most people were doing in their 20s, I was doing when I was 13.”

The actor continued: “You’re doing something too quickly for someone else? I don’t understand that. What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me.”

The couple were engaged when Aaron was 18-years-old, and welcomed their first daughter when he was 20.

The Marvel actor told the publication that he keeps busy at his farm in Somerset with Sam, with whom he shares “four gorgeous daughters”.

The eldest are Sam’s from a previous marriage, aged 27 and 17.

Sam previously told Harper’s Bazaar they remained “very professional” on the production and didn’t start dating until after the project had finished filming.

Now, the actor is reportedly set to take on the high-profile Bond role.

If Aaron accepts the opportunity he would be the seventh actor to take on the lead in the Bond franchise.

A recent poll created by the Daily Mail suggested that Suicide Squad actor Idris Elba was the public’s number one choice for the role.

However, the 51-year-old actor has since come out and said he would not be available due to his successful crime drama, Luther.

According to The Sun: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.”

“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

In an interview with Numero last week, Aaron reacted humbly to the rumours he is set to play the next 007.

Aaron told the outlet: “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”
