Virgin Media has officially received the go-ahead to buy out UTV Ireland.
According to the Irish Times Virgin have now got the regulatory and competition approval to acquire the station.
It comes just months after the media organisation bought TV3 Ireland.
Since UTV Ireland launched in 2014, their viewership grew rapidly thanks to owning the rights to popular soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
But now that ITV contract is up for grabs again, with many believing TV3 will get the rights back.
