Popular presenter the new favourite to become permanent host on This Morning

Rylan Clark is the new favourite to be named as a permanent replacement for Phillip Schofield on This Morning.

The former X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother contestant is 5/4 to be named as permanent host, ahead of Dermot O’Leary (3/1), Marvin Humes (5/1) and Stephen Mulhern (10/1).

It comes after Rylan returned to the show as a guest host on Monday and Tuesday this week, which went down a hit with viewers.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Following the departure of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby from This Morning, ITV bosses are still searching for a replacement presenting line, and with Rylan Clark standing in to host the show on Monday and Tuesday this week he’s now our current favourite at 5/4 to take the role on a permanent basis.

“Dermot O’Leary was in the hot seat on Wednesday morning and is second favourite at 3/1, while Marvin Humes and Stephen Mulhern round out the top four in the betting, priced at 5/1 and 10/1 respectively.”

The 35-year-old, who rocketed to fame on The X Factor, has been credited as the main relief presenter on the ITV show since 2014.

The London native has presented with well-known faces – including Alison Hammond, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Ruth Langsford, Eamonn Holmes and Lorraine Kelly.

In December 2017, it was announced that Rylan would be taking a break from This Morning for a few months.

He briefly returned to the show a number of times throughout 2018.

Before his stint this week, Rylan last appeared on the This Morning sofa alongside Ruth Langsford in August 2022.

Following Holly and Phil’s shock departures from the popular ITV breakfast show this year, bosses are looking for their permanent replacements.

Sources have since told The Mail on Sunday that Good Morning Britain hosts Kate and Ben are at the top of the executive producers’ lists, as they believe their close friendship and chemistry would appeal to viewers.

Other names in the frame include Emma and Matt Willis, and new Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty and his wife Cat Deeley.
