Neil Delamere hooked up to childbirth simulator to experience pain of LABOUR for new show

Comedian Neil Delamere has revealed he experienced the pain of childbirth for his new TV show.

The funnyman was hooked up to a brutal machine which allowed him to feel what it is like to go into labour.

It is part of Neil’s exploration into the stories of four of our national heroes – in this case, Cúchulainn.

He said: “There is this myth that Cúchulainn wanted to travel Ulster alone and anyone else who went with him would go into labour.

“So I got hooked up to a machine that simulates labour. It was a bizarre, out-of-body experience.

“It makes all of your pelvic muscles contract and vibrate and was really painful, I’m sure it was only a shadow of the real thing but it definitely made for one of the more interesting days at work to talk about.”

Searching for a hero: Neil has new RTE2 show | RTE

His RTE2 series Holding Out For A Hero starts this evening, and Neil says it is exciting to explore the stories of our heroes.

“I’ve always been interested in history and how people get built up, when you drill down into it what we think is usually propaganda,” he told the Irish Mirror.

“After someone dies their admirable traits are usually ramped up.”
