Hollywood stars appear in iconic brand’s new Christmas advert

Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney feature in Marks and Spencer’s new Christmas food advert.

The pair are joined by British icon Dawn French – marking the comedian’s third time appearing in the British chain’s Christmas ad.

The 80-second-clip sees the Christmas fairy, played by Dawn and a pair of children’s mittens, come to life and explore Marks and Spencer’s yuletide feast.

The Christmas ad – one of the first of the festive season – will make its debut on This Morning at 10:30am today.

The Hollywood legends and Wrexham FC owner’s voice the right and left mittens.

The two share a comical exchange before introducing themselves to the Fairy.

The Right mitten then tells the winged character the story of how they ended up abandoned in the snow after their owner Lilly, lost them on a trip.

In a bid to cheer the pair up, the Christmas fairy whisks them away to “sprinkle them with M&S magic.”

Various Marks and Spencer festive delicacies are revealed including mince pies and chocolate and Christmas puddings – showcasing what the brand has on offer for the upcoming festive season.

In a report by The Sun, Sharry Cramond, the Marks and Spencer’s food director of marketing and hospitality said: “This year’s Christmas advertising campaign is possibly my favourite to date.”

“Not only does it build on the unrivalled success of last year, it also
introduces a sprinkle of Hollywood glamour with the addition of both Rob and Ryan.”

The release of this comes after the brand was accused of burning what resembled the Palestinian flag in their now removed Christmas Clothing and Home advert.

In a statement on Instagram, the popular British brand wrote: “Today we shared an outtake image from our Christmas Clothing and Home advert, which was recorded in August.”

“It showed traditional, festive coloured red, green and silver Christmas paper party hats in a fire grate.”

“While the intent was to playfully show that some people just don’t enjoy wearing paper Christmas hats over the festive season, we have removed the post following feedback and we apologise for any unintentional hurt caused.”
