Everything we know about Love Island Games – a brand new all stars spinoff with a twist

Love Island Games, a brand new all stars spinoff, will air on Peacock later this year.

Set to launch this autumn, the series will bring together Islanders from the US, UK and Australia for a second shot of love.

In this cheeky new iteration, romance will meet reality as Islanders are faced with both team and couples’ challenges, all while navigating dating, eliminations, recoupling and dramatic new arrivals.

An official premiere date has not yet been announced, but Love Island star Kady McDermott recently let slip the show starts filming in September.

Speaking on Sam Thompson and Pete Wick’s podcast Staying Relevant, the reality star admitted she was asked to appear on the series, but she turned it down following her recent stint on the summer series of Love Island UK.

She said: “I got asked to do Love Island The Games in September – I’ve had enough, I’m retired for the year. I’ll leave that one.”

The cast and host remain a mystery, but Maura Higgins has hinted she may be a part of the show in some way…

The Irish reality star recently landed a major role as the social host for Love Island USA, and has been a huge hit with fans in America.

Amid calls for her to host the US version of Love Island, could Maura be in line to host Love Island Games?

The Longford native shared a promo for the new series on her Instagram Stories on Friday, sparking speculation she could be the show’s main presenter.

For those who may be confused about the new series, Love Island Games is separate to the All Stars series being planned by Love Island producers in the UK.

According to MailOnline, bosses are considering replacing the winter series of Love Island with an All Stars series in 2024.

A source revealed: “The winter series of Love Island has been axed for a second time… viewers just aren’t interested in watching the show twice a year.”

“It will be replaced by a brand new All Stars series, which will feature former Islanders who are still looking for love.”

From Lifted Entertainment

“In terms of iconic Love Island stars who are now happily married including the likes of Olivia Attwood, producers are looking into cameo appearances so that they still involve fan favourites from the years gone by.”

Just like the winter series, Love Island All Stars will be filmed in South Africa, and producers are already recruiting former Islanders who are currently single.

Megan Barton-Hanson and Georgia Steel, who appeared on the 2018 series, have already been linked to the lineup.

During a recent interview with Goss.ie, Maura Higgins confirmed she was asked to appear on the new series – but turned it down.

The 32-year-old told us: “I can’t see myself ever doing that again, no. I’ve been asked, but I’ve said no.”

“I just think, I’ve done it once, I’ve had my time on Love Island. I don’t really want to go back in time, I want to look to the future.”

When contacted for a comment, a Love Island spokesperson said: “Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVX in 2024.”
