Dermot O’Leary has officially joined the This Morning team, as the show sees some changes while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Scholfield take a break.

The news comes after Eamonn Hughes and Ruth Langsford were announced to present Holly and Phillip’s Monday to Thursday slot on the popular UK chat show.

The X Factor host will join Rochelle Humes on the This Morning couch for Friday’s weekly shows, and he will also join Alison Hammond for a second show.

Joining Dermot in the new line up is TV host Ore Oduba, who is also set to co-host alongside Rochelle over the next few months.

The TV presenter will be on the ITV show this Friday with the singer turned presenter.

Dermot and Rochelle will mostly cover Friday’s in July and August, as Eamonn and Ruth cover Phillip and Holly the rest of the weekday while the popular duo take the summer off.

ITV will reveal the show’s summer rota later today, following record viewing figures.

Over 10 million people tuned in to the chat show during the first week of lockdown, its highest consolidated figure to date.

Phillip and Holly are taking a break for the rest of the summer

Martin Frizell, editor of the show, spoke of the show’s success over the lockdown period.

“We’ve been inundated with viewers’ positive feedback throughout lockdown on how This Morning has provided a much-needed comfort blanket,” he said.

Eamonn Hughes shared his hope for the show: “It’s set to be a very different summer for us all, so we hope that here on This Morning we can continue to provide some sense of normality, and lots of craziness of course.”
