As always, Kim Kardashian commanded attention at the 2024 Met Gala.
The 43-year-old turned heads in a custom Maison Margiela dress by John Galliano, which featured a waist-cinching corset and sheer embellished skirt.
While the size of her waist sparked some shock reactions online, many fans were distracted by one particular accessory.
The mother-of-four paired her glamorous gown with a casual grey cardigan, which left the internet scratching their heads.
It’s safe to say fans were not happy with her sweater, and took to social media to question why she spoiled the top of her dress by covering it up.
Some fans even speculated the star had a last minute wardrobe malfunction, and needed the cardigan to cover her modesty.

So, what’s the real story behind the cardigan? Well, it turns out the sweater was an intentional part of her outfit.
Speaking to Vogue on the carpet, Kim explained how it played into the overall theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
The reality star said her outfit was meant to represent “the wildest night of my life in a garden” where she just ran out and grabbed her “boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on and had to get to work. And my hair’s all messed up.”
