Xpose host Ruth O’Neill reveals dark side of Hollywood

Ruth O’Neill has revealed the secret darkness to the glittering city of L.A.

The Dubliner spent five years living in the City of Angels before returning back to Dublin to work as a presenter on TV3’s Xpose.

“You’ll find most people are in therapy, on anxiety pills, can’t sleep at night,” she admitted.

The 27-year-old further revealed that most of the people in L.A. aren’t aware of just how hard it is to make the cut when you live in an entertainment industry town.

“Half the people in L.A. don’t work and the other half work so so hard, constantly trying to get ahead,” she said to The Irish Sun.

“There might be a beach and sunshine, but you mightn’t always enjoy it.”

Ruth continued that there’s a big gap between those who have made it and those who are still working towards making it.

“There’s a big gap between the really successful people and the ones who are trying to break in, both in terms of wages and power,” she admitted.

“It’s a real privilege to get to do what you want to do in L.A., the amount of actors and musicians I knew over there trying to break in and working in bars or as waiters it’s not unusual for people to have two or three jobs.”

The blonde beauty further admitted that she left the city for her own personal reasons because she needed to get away from the madness.

“I left really for personal reasons, not professional reasons,” she revealed.

“I just needed a break from the madness.

“I might go back one day but for now, I needed the break.”
