Vogue Williams reveals: 'Losing my dad to a stroke has made me a fitness fanatic'

Vogue Williams has revealed the death of her father from a stroke made her realise the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

The Irish model’s dad Freddie died four years ago aged 68 while Vogue’s grandfather also named Freddie passed away from a stroke when she was a child.

“He was the first person I ever remember dying and really understanding what was happening. It was so sad,” she said.

The TV star also has an cousin and an uncle who both suffered strokes and with a history of the affliction in her family – Vogue is extra careful about staying healthy.

“Because we have history of stroke on both sides of my family, I have always been health conscious. I need to be careful with fitness and stress,” she told Express.co.uk.

“Having seen what happened to my father and grandfather has made me very aware of the importance of exercise and eating well.”

Meanwhile, Vogue recently won reality series Mission Survive and despite it being a tough, the Howth native said it was a “brilliant” experience.

“People expect me to be a really girl, when I am not like that at all,” she revealed.

“It was tough and a lot harder than I’d imagine but I discovered I’m much more resilient than I thought.”

“It brought out a strength in me I didn’t know I had and I realised how much I love being in the outdoors.”
