Vogue Williams: ‘I don’t get jobs just because of my looks’

Vogue Williams has insisted her good looks hasn’t helped her land any gigs.

The model and presenter is nominated in the Rising Star category for the Irish Film and Television Awards next week, and Vogue defended her career to date.

Vogue, 30, said it is her work ethic that landed her so many jobs, not how she looks.

“People aren’t given their jobs just because of their looks. Looks can only get you so far,” she told the Sunday Independent.

Recognition: Vogue is up for an IFTA | BRIAN MCEVOY

“I don’t feel the need to prove myself to people. I write my own column, I have done for two years, and I work really hard so I don’t need anyone else to tell me I am doing okay.

“You can’t put everyone in the same box. And you can’t take away from what everyone else does because people aren’t given their jobs just because of their looks.

“Looks can only get you so far,” she explained.

Speaking ahead of the TV IFTAs next Friday night, Vogue said she was shocked when she found out she was up for the prestigious award.

Pretty face: Vogue says it’s her work ethic that lands her jobs

“I am so happy with the nomination. I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited when I heard,” she admitted.

“I have only been to the Iftas once and that was last year to present an award, it’s so nice to be recognised by Ifta this year.

“I know it’s cliche but I do mean it – even the nomination means a lot,” she added.
