Tommy Tiernan mistook Vogue Williams for a black tennis player, thinking she was Venus or Serena Williams.
The comedian met the model on his show, The Tommy Tiernan Show – a show where he interviews celebrities but doesn’t find out who he’s interviewing until they come on to the show.
“I thought when I heard her name that she was a black tennis player,” he said.

The 47-year-old admitted that he knew nothing about the former Fade Street star until he got to chat to her in the green room after the show.
“I didn’t know Vogue. There were things about Vogue that I only found out after I interviewed her in the green room afterwards,” he told the Irish Daily Star.
“I can’t tell you how it started off but it was one of the funniest interviews of the series. It was the type of show where the emphasis is on conversation. It isn’t on making the person vulnerable.
“It is just about having fun and being serious. The Vogue interview got serious at times. But with Vogue now, I would absolutely feel confident if I saw her in a health club that I could walk over and continue our chat.”
The Tommy Tiernan Show airs on RTE 1 on January 5th.
