This is how much Laura Whitmore was paid for hosting Love Island 2022

Laura Whitmore was reportedly paid £500,000 for just 23 minutes of screen time on Love Island 2022.

Earlier this week, the Bray native revealed she would not be hosting the next series of the hit dating show.

The 37-year-old cited the reason for her decision as “elements of the show” which “cannot be changed… due to the format”.

Laura took over hosting Love Island from the late Caroline Flack for the 2020 winter series of the show.

She then continued to host seasons seven and eight.

Earlier this year, The Sun reported that the mom-of-one had signed another £500,000 deal to host the ninth series of the show, which will air at the beginning of 2023.

However, they revealed that she only appeared on-screen for 23 minutes and 40 seconds throughout this season’s 57 episodes.

This means Laura pocketed £21,367 per minute of screen time on the show.

The Bray native also presented Aftersun every evening after the main show.

Taking to Instagram on Monday evening to announce the news of her Love Island departure, the Bray native wrote: “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island.”

She continued: “There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.”

“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline ❤️” Laura added.

ITV said in a statement: “Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series of the show. We are so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects.”

Following Laura’s shock announcement, MyBettingSites has seen a flurry of bets on potential hosts to take over her Love Island hosting gig.

Maura Higgins, who appeared on the 2019 series of the ITV show, is one of the bookies current favourites at 5/1 to take the presenter’s reigns.

Former ‘Inbetweeners’ star Emily Atack is also in the running at 5/1 to land the gig, while radio presenter Alice Levine closely follows with odds of 6/1.
