Simon Cowell ‘upset’ with Niall Horan after signing with rival label

Simon Cowell is said to be upset with Niall Horan, after he has reportedly signed a major solo deal with Universal.

The Mullingar native is the latest 1D star to ditch former mentor Simon’s label Syco, after Liam Payne signed to Capitol UK back in July.

According to The Sun, Simon is upset with Niall’s decision to sign with Capitol US, a part of Simon’s rival label Universal.

“Simon has made no secret of his expectations for Niall to stay loyal to him and has been desperately trying to keep him as a solo act with plans to turn him into a Justin Bieber style artist,” a source said.

“They’ve worked together closely since day one and have always had a strong relationship, but Universal offered a lot of money.

“Simon’s likely to be so frustrated Niall has gone to a rival,” the source added.

Bad news: Simon thought Niall would stay loyal to Syco | VIPIRELAND.COM

The news comes just weeks after Simon said he was “confident” that Niall would stay loyal to Syco, unlike Liam. But turns out, he was wrong.

“Business is business and it has got to be the right deal, but I am confident.”

Referring to Liam’s decision to sign with Capitol UK, Simon said, “That is the music business, unfortunately. I don’t think anyone else from the band will do that.”

A spokesman for Syco declined to comment on the story.
