Saoirse Ronan admits sexual harassment in Hollywood is ‘swept under the carpet’

Saoirse Ronan has spoken out about the sexual harassment accusations going on in Hollywood.

The Ladybird actress said that she felt “really lucky” to have been protected from it all as her parents were with her all the time as a child.

“I never was really exposed to what went on at parties, I was never left on my own with anyone,” she said.

“My mum and dad were always around.”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter as part of this years Actress Roundtable, Saoirse spoke alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Allison Janney, Mary J Blige and Emma Stone about the topical subject.

The Brooklyn actress commended model Ambra Battialana Gutierrez for working with NYPD to record evidence of Harvey Weinstein admitting to groping her.

“What was incredible about it was that she was brave enough to go back the next day, because she knew that it was important for this to come out.

“The fact that she put herself in that position again, and made herself so vulnerable, and still nothing was done about it…”
