The Rubberbandits disable comments on new video about suicide due to ‘evil’ trolls

Trolls started attacking their vulnerable fans in the comment section

The Rubberbandits were forced to disable the comments on their new music video about suicide, after “evil” trolls started targeting fans.

Earlier this week, the duo released the music video for Sonny, their powerful new song about suicide.

The video was so well received that people started sharing their own battles with mental health in the comments section – but unfortunately, this left some people subject to viscous abuse from anonymous accounts.

Taking to Twitter, the Rubberbandits wrote, “Had to disable YouTube comments on Sonny because humans are evil psychopaths when they have access to anonymous accounts.”

“To be clear. Not disabled coz of negativity towards us. We been dealing with trolls since Bebo. But for Comments attacking people with issues,” they added.

One person replied, “Not a fan of this move. Open dialogue is king. Use words and logic to dismantle them. Never hide, that’s when they win,” but they responded, “No man, I’m talking about c**ts telling people who open up in the comments to kill themselves. Not debating that, or platforming it.”

Irish musician Hozier took to Twitter to express his disappointment, writing, “Sorry to hear this lads. I scanned through comments only early today and was heartened by people’s responses. Reached a lot of folks, fair play.”

The Rubberbandits replied, “Nice one. I deleted all the badness. But there was too many coming in so disabled them all in case they were harmful to the vulnerable.”
